Conservation Mat
Conseration mat board differs from paper mat in that it is made from 100% virgin alpha cellulose materials. The manufacturing process removes the lignun from the pulp since that is where acid resides. This board has a clean white core that will not discolor over time. Alpha boards should be used on all artwork where conservation is an issue. This mat will help protect the value of your artwok for generations to come.

100% Cotton Rag Mat
100% Cotton Rag fiber mat board offers the ultimate protection for artwork with extraordinary value. Irreplaceable pieces of art will be protected from deterioration caused by acid contained in paper products. While alpha cellulose paper mat is currently believed to offer the same level of protection, it has not been around long enough to truly equal the protection of cotton rag mat. If you own a true masterpiece or a two century old historic document, only cotton rag boards should be considered.
